Requirements for Finish Machining of Steel-Cored Aluminium Strand Wire

The finished conductor should reflect the high quality of modern wire manufacture in material, process and design. After the manufacturing is completed, the shape and surface of the wire should be a uniform cylindrical shape, and should remain in this state until the wire is erected.

When the wire is subjected to 30% of the rated maximum tension and is not subjected to tension, the allowable reduction of the circumference does not exceed 2%. The surface of the wire should be free of defects, flash, wear, and other irregularities or defects that increase radio interference and corona loss. When the wire is subjected to 50% of the rated maximum tension, the wire and surface shall maintain its cylindrical shape and shall not cause any part to move relative to the improper position, thus affecting the longitudinal finish of the wire.
