Does the Steel Core Aluminum Strand use Soft Aluminum or Hard Aluminum?

Steel Core Aluminum Strand Wire

As far as the current domestic steel-cored aluminum stranded wire is concerned, there are two aspects to determine its quality characteristics. The first aspect is the production process and technical level of the steel-cored aluminum stranded wire. The higher the technological level and technical capability, the better the quality of the steel-cored aluminum stranded wire produced. The second aspect is mainly in the steel core aluminum strand raw materials. Without qualified raw materials, the quality of steel core aluminum strand can not be qualified, so this aspect is also the most basic factor of steel core aluminum strand quality. Therefore, in order to ensure the quality of steel core aluminum strand, it is necessary to ensure that the raw material environment in the production line is also guaranteed, and the high quality steel wire and aluminum wire material of steel core aluminum strand can be supplied continuously.

Hard aluminum refers to the aluminum alloy with cu as the main alloy element (containing 2.2-4.9% Cu, 0.2%-1.8% Mg, 0.3%-0.9% Mn, a small amount of silicon, the rest is aluminum), code named 2xxx, commonly used in 2A11, 2A12 and so on. Hard aluminum has good mechanical properties, high strength (such as 2A12-T4 tensile strength up to 469MPa) and easy to process, and low density, can be used as a lightweight structural material. In general hard aluminum, magnesium does not exceed 2%. Manganese can improve strength and corrosion resistance, but generally limits manganese to less than 1%. Adding a small amount of titanium can refine grains, iron and silicon are limited to less than 0.5-0.6%, and it is desirable that the ratio of iron to silicon is greater than or equal to one.

The main disadvantages of hard aluminum are: 1) Poor corrosion resistance, so it is necessary to apply a layer of industrial pure aluminum (the thickness of pure aluminum accounts for 3-5% of the thickness of the sheet) on the surface of the hard aluminum sheet to become aluminum-clad hard aluminum, and its strength is reduced. 2) The solution treatment temperature range is narrow. If the temperature is lower than this temperature, the maximum strengthening effect cannot be exerted. When the temperature exceeds the upper limit temperature, the occurrence of grain boundary "over" may cause the grain aggregation to be destroyed. 3) The welding crack tends to be large, and it is difficult to use the fusion welding method.
